Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Michael Latham (Conservative), on Monday, 18 June 1990, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 34 members in total.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791)
That this House notes that 5th December 1991 will be the two hundredth anniversary of the death of Mozart whose sublime musical genius has delighted and inspired millions of people; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to mark the bi-centenary of his death in some significant manner, such as directly sponsoring some concerts of his masterpieces in provincial cities throughout the United Kingdom and also pressing for wider European initiatives through the Council of Europe and the European Community such as the endowment of more musical scholarships or chairs of music at European universities, or the funding of annual Mozart festivals in European countries.
