Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Michael Colvin (Conservative), on Wednesday, 22 June 1994, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 9 members in total.

COAL INDUSTRY

That this House looks forward to the successful privatisation of the local industry provided for by the Coal Industry Bill, which will enable the industry to compete in the energy market; and, in line with that principle of fair competition in an open market, calls upon Her Majesty's Government to accept the Lords' amendments to Schedule 8 to the Bill which would provide access to coal in certain necessary circumstances and set fair terms for the use of compulsory powers to balance the interests of private sector coal contractors with landowners and occupiers. (Relevant registered interest declared).
