DEBDALE LANE AND NORTH WEST WATER

That this House offers its support to the 820 local residents who have signed a petition unreservedly opposing North West Water's intention to allow vehicular traffic along Debdale Lane, Gorton, Manchester; draws North West Water's attention to the fact that the definitive map under the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 shows Debdale Lane to be a bridleway; points out that field footpath 136 runs along the length of Debdale Lane; emphasises that section 36 of the Road Traffic Act 1972 states that a person who drives a motor vehicle on any footpath or bridleway commits an offence; calls on North West Water to respect the environmental concerns of the people of Gorton; and demands that local residents, including old people and children, should continue to be allowed quiet enjoyment of Debdale Lane without fear of intrusion by vehicular traffic.
