Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Jamie Cann (Labour), on Thursday, 21 April 1994, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 43 members in total.
REVALUATION OF DOMESTIC PROPERTIES
That this House notes that district valuers are reviewing the banding for council tax purposes of all domestic properties which are bought and sold; further notes that where this results in a higher banding the new band applies from April 1993; deplores this exercise in retrospective taxation; and calls on the Government to instruct the Inland Revenue to cease this practice.
