Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Liz Lynne (Liberal Democrat), on Tuesday, 10 May 1994, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 49 members in total.

CONDUCT OF THE HONOURABLE MEMBERS FOR SUTTON AND CHEAM, HERTSMERE, BRISTOL NORTH;WEST, GAINSBOROUGH AND HORNCASTLE AND BURY ST EDMUNDS

That this House condemns the actions of the honourable Members for Sutton and Cheam, Hertsmere, Bristol North West, Gainsborough and Horncastle and Bury St. Edmunds, who, in collusion with the Government, very seriously delayed the progress on the Civil Rights (Disabled Persons) Bill, against the wishes of this House and the over six million disabled people of Britain; calls upon the honourable Members to withdraw the remaining amendments tabled in their names but drafted by the Government; calls on the Government to end the practice of giving selected backbenchers the support of Parliamentary Counsel in order to derail Bills; and further calls for measures to be taken to ensure that the wishes of this House cannot be overidden by an overmighty executive or by the filibustering of individual honourable Members.

CONDUCT OF THE HONOURABLE MEMBERS FOR SUTTON AND CHEAM, HERTSMERE, BRISTOL NORTH;WEST, GAINSBOROUGH AND HORNCASTLE AND BURY ST EDMUNDS (1190A1)
The Early day motion has received an amendment sponsored by Edward Leigh (primary, Conservative) and tabled on Monday, 16 May 1994. It has been signed by 3 members in total.
leave out from 'House' to end and add 'believes that the actions of the honourable Members for Sutton and Cheam, Hertsmere, Bristol North West, and Gainsborough and Horncastle were justified in that Division No. 229 reveals that only 60 honourable Members bothered to turn up to support the Civil Rights (Disabled Persons) Bill on Friday 6th May and that not all of the sponsors of the Bill supported the measure on this date; notes that this level of support was insufficient to enable closures to be obtained; calls upon this small minority to accept that many honourable Members have justifiable concerns over a measure which has estimated start-up costs of ??17 billion and thereafter a likely cost of ??1 billion per annum if implemented; and congratulates Her Majesty's Government for progressively introducing measures which will help the disabled without unnecessary legislation or bureaucracy.'.
