That this House is concerned at the discourtesy of His Excellency Moshe Ravin, the Israeli Ambassador, in failing to respond to requests made on 7th February, 30th March and 26th April to meet an all-party group of honourable Members to discuss matters concerning the imprisonment of Mr Mordechai Vanunu, who has been held in solitary confinement for almost eight years; and now invites him to agree to meet the group.

leave out from 'House' to end and add 'notes that Mordechai Vanunu, an Israeli citizen, was convicted in an Israeli court of a very serious offence in Israeli law; further notes that the sentence received is compatible with that for a similar offence in other democratic states; notes that Her Majesty's Government has stated on several occasions to the House that Britain has no locus in this matter; and believes that honourable Members would have received exactly this information by writing to His Excellency The Ambassador of Israel rather than asking to see him on a matter which is entirely for the Israeli legal system.'.
