Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor David Lidington (Conservative), on Wednesday, 9 March 1994, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 19 members in total.

CONDUCT OF THE HON MEMBER FOR CHELTENHAM AND THE PERGAU DAM

That this House deplores the smear and innuendo employed by the Liberal Democrats over the provision of aid by the Overseas Development Administration to Malaysia; notes that the actions of the honourable Member for Cheltenham and his Party have seriously jeopardised Britain's excellent trading relations with Malaysia; further notes that two Cheltenham-based companies which could suffer from a fall in defence exports are Dowty Defence and Air Systems and Smiths Industries Aerospace & Defence, which employs 3,000 people in the area; thinks that the honourable Member for Cheltenham should stop his posturing on morality in public life and acknowledge that his Party's rash words have endangered the jobs of hundred of his constituents; feels sorry for the people of Cheltenham who do not have an MP who puts their interests above cheap political point-scoring; and calls upon the honourable Member for Cheltenham to apologise to his constituents for his Party's actions and to stop attacking Britain's trading partners and the jobs they create for this country.
