Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Greg Pope (Labour), on Tuesday, 15 February 1994, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 55 members in total.
DISMISSAL OF LECTURERS AT BATH COLLEGE
That this House condemns the decision of Bath College to sack 50 lecturers for refusing to sign contracts which the college sought to impose arbitrarily; recognises that employment protection in the United Kingdom is so weak that management can now ride roughshod over employees' rights; and calls on the governors of Bath College to rethink their position and to recognise that high standards of education are best achieved through partnership rather than confrontation.
