Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Carlile of Berriew (Liberal Democrat), on Monday, 21 February 1994, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 22 members in total.
DAVID HUGHES, FORMER EDITOR OF THE WESTERN MAIL
That this House regrets the departure of David Hughes from the Western Mail, a newspaper he edited with distinction; notes the Western Mail's tradition of providing full coverage of Parliamentary events affecting Wales, including Welsh Questions, the Welsh Grand Committee and the Welsh Affairs Select Committee; and hopes that the change of editor will not lead to a departure from this tradition, a move downmarket or a reduction in the Western Mail's Welsh identity.
