Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Barbara Roche (Labour), on Monday, 28 February 1994, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 101 members in total.
CONSERVATIVE PARTY FUNDING
That this House is shocked to learn from reports in the Daily Mirror that one of the Conservative Party's chief fundraisers, Anthony Weldon, was banned from trading for 10 years by an American judge and fined more than ??66,000 over 19 business offences; is concerned by allegations that Mr Weldon recently held a secret meeting at Conservative Central Office with representatives from the defence and security industries; is further alarmed that companies have been urged to donate money to the Conservative Party in return for valuable information; and urges the Chairman of the Conservative Party, Sir Norman Fowler, to come clean about the measures that he is prepared to take in order to alleviate the Conservative Party's ??19 million debt.
