Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Foulkes of Cumnock (Labour), on Thursday, 27 January 1994, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 50 members in total.

CONDUCT OF THE HONOURABLE MEMBER FOR DOVER AND OTHER CONSERVATIVE HONOURABLE MEMBERS

That this House notes that the Government Auditor has given Monklands District Council a clean bill of health after a detailed examination of the council's accounts; notes that the Secretary of State for Scotland has not found any basis on which to carry out any investigations into the council's operations; and therefore calls upon the honourable Member for Dover and other Conservative honourable Members to stop using the cloak of parliamentary privilege to make unwarranted and unsubstantiated allegations of corruption and scurrilous attacks on Monklands district councillors who have no opportunity to reply.
