Question: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what impact the Cannings case has had on the type of evidence the Criminal Cases Review Commission uses to justify a referral of a case to the Court of Appeal.

Answer: Mrs. Curtis-Thomas: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what impact the Cannings case has had on the type of evidence the Criminal Cases Review Commission uses to justify a referral of a case to the Court of Appeal. [218712] Paul Goggins: This judgment has had no impact, as such, on the type of evidence used to justify a referral, but the decision is of course applied by the Commission whenever it is appropriate to do so.
