Question: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what estimate he has made of the cost of carrying out the maintenance and repairs to HM Prison Weare which would ensure it received its next certificate of seaworthiness.

Answer: Mrs. Gillan: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what estimate he has made of the cost of carrying out the maintenance and repairs to HM Prison Weare which would ensure it received its next certificate of seaworthiness. [222535] Paul Goggins: [holding answer 17 March 2005]: Work to refit and repaint HMP The Weare was in the existing maintenance programme and was scheduled to begin later this year. This work had been estimated to cost around £1.1 million and was due to be completed in time for the next inspection for the certificate of seaworthiness in May 2006. This work is now on hold as a result of the announcement to close HMP The Weare.
