Question: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what the maintenance costs for HM Prison Weare were in each year since 1997.

Answer: Mrs. Gillan: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what the maintenance costs for HM Prison Weare were in each year since 1997. [222536] Paul Goggins: [holding answer 17 March 2005]: The maintenance costs for The Weare prison since 1997 are comprised of three discrete elements; the vessel-specific facilities management contract, local maintenance allocation and other major maintenance costs. There have also been other major maintenance requirements at The Weare since 1997. These include re- painting, preservation work, a link span modification and the refit for the previous sea-worthiness certificate. In total these maintenance costs were in the order of £1 million over this period.
