Question: To ask the Deputy Prime Minister, what the reasons are for the change in the number of affordable housing units expected to be built over the 2003-04 to 2005-06 period with transitional local authority social housing grant since the written Answer to the honourable Member for Runnymede and Weybridge of 8th December 2003, 415 c345W; if he will release further transitional local authority social housing grant funding to ensure that his Department delivers the 14,000 affordable housing units referred to in the written Answer to the honourable Member for Runnymede and Weybridge of 8th December 2003, 415 c345W.

Answer: Mr. Edward Davey: To ask the Deputy Prime Minister (1) what the reasons are for the change in the number of affordable housing units expected to be built over the 2003-04 to 2005-06 period with transitional local authority social housing grant since the written answer of 8 December 2003, Official Report, column 345W to the hon. [223303] Keith Hill: The number of homes expected to be provided in the 2003-04 to 2005-06 period with transitional local authority social housing grant was based on all approved schemes completing. Some schemes are not coming to fruition due to planning difficulties or because they have subsequently failed to meet the criteria set. Some of these have received funding through the Approved Development Programme (ADP). The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister has no plans to extend the transitional arrangements for local authority social housing grant beyond 2005-06.
