Lady Hermon: To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what assessment he has made of the reasons why eligible voters failed to re-register in the 2004 annual canvass; and if he will make a statement. [215159] Mr. Spellar: The Northern Ireland Office has not conducted detailed research in this area. However, I understand that the Electoral Commission will be continuing to monitor the levels of registration and the reasons regarding why eligible voters failed to register.
