Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what charges have been introduced for NHS services since 1975.
Answer

Tim Loughton: To ask the Secretary of State for Health what charges have been introduced for NHS services since 1975. [223739] Mr. Hutton: Regulations governing charging of overseas visitors for national health service hospital treatment were first introduced in 1982. These were subsequently replaced by the NHS (Charges to Overseas Visitors) Regulations 1989, which remain the basis of the charging arrangements today, although they have been amended from time to time, most recently in April 2004. Charging for dental examinations was introduced on 1 April 1989.
