Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Health, whether the Public Service Agreement target to increase year on year the proportion of drug users successfully sustaining or completing treatment programmes has been met thus far.

Answer: Mr. Bercow: To ask the Secretary of State for Health whether the Public Service Agreement target to increase year on year the proportion of drug users successfully sustaining or completing treatment programmes has been met thus far. [219241] Miss Melanie Johnson: The proportion of drug users successfully sustaining or completing treatment programmes fell from 59 per cent. In 2001-021 to 57 per cent. In 2002-031, rising to 72 per cent. in 2003-042. 1 Figures for 2001-02 and 2002-03 are provisional. 2 In 2003-04, the methodology used for counting the numbers in drug treatment in England was revised to reflect numbers in treatment more accurately. Note: The definition of structured drug treatment has also tightened with the implementation of Models of care for the treatment of adult drug misusers, which was published in 2002. Sources: 1.
