Question: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many incidents of domestic violence have been reported to the Metropolitan Police in each of the last three years.

Answer: Tom Cox: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many incidents of domestic violence have been reported to the Metropolitan police in each of the last three years. [209254] Ms Blears: The number of domestic violence incidents reported to the Metropolitan Police Service in each of the last three years are set out in the table: _________________________________________________________________________________________________. Number of reported domestic violence incidents 2001-02 90,974 2002-03 104,000 2003-04 106,879 _________________________________________________________________________________________________. The rise in figures from 2001-02 to 2002-03 is attributable to the introduction of the National Crime Recording Standard in April 2002. This system changed the way in which police record crime with the aim of promoting greater consistency between force recording. This had the effect of increasing the amount of crime recorded.
