Colindale Hospital (Staff Housing)

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will make an assessment of the requirement for (a) key worker housing for NHS staff and (b) affordable housing before deciding on (i) the basis for marketing and (ii) the actual sale of the Colindale hospital site once it is surplus to NHS requirements; and if she will make a statement.
Answer

This is a local matter. The land at Colindale hospital is held by Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health National Health Service Trust.Of the 724 dwellings, 37 per cent. are proposed to be affordable or key worker accommodation representing 49 per cent. of the total number of habitable rooms. The Greater London authority has been consulted and has expressed support due to the affordable and key worker accommodation comprising predominantly family accommodation. The trust is satisfied that this is sufficient to meet their accommodation needs.
