Cookstown
- Question
- To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland for what reasons an area designated for education and recreation usage has now been turned over to the provision of a new police station for Cookstown.
- Answer
-
I am sorry for the delay in replying. This was caused by an administrative error. The location of the proposed new police station at Cookstown is adjacent to the current station and is deemed to be in the most operationally effective location for the delivery of community policing within the Cookstown area. The site does not encroach into any area designated for education or recreation purposes in the Cookstown Area Plan. However abutting the site along its south-western boundary are school grounds, which are designated as existing recreation/open space.
