Housing Act
- Question
- To ask the Deputy Prime Minister what the timetable is for the implementation of the Housing Act 2004.
- Answer
-
I refer to the hon. Member to the written statement made on 10 October 2005, Official Report, column 6–7WS, in relation to implementation of Parts 1–4, 6 & 7 of the Housing Act 2004.We plan to introduce mandatory home information packs under Part 5 of the Act in early 2007. However, many home buyers and sellers will not have to wait to benefit from home information packs since an increasing number of estate agents, surveyors and conveyancers are operating pack schemes on a voluntary basis. The provisions within Part 6 of the Act, to commence s.225 (covering the preparation of accommodation needs assessment and accommodation strategies for ‘Gypsies and Travellers') are planned to be commenced in spring 2006, following consultation on the definition of ‘Gypsies and Travellers' for the purposes of the Act.
