Dog Registration
- Question
- To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs if she will implement a dog registration scheme to fund stray animal care.
- Answer
-
We have no plans to introduce a dog registration scheme. Funding for stray dogs will come from existing budgets and those received from the police, as well as dog owners themselves. Dog owners are required to pay £25 on top of the cost accrued for maintaining their dog while in the custody of the local authority.
