Highly Skilled Migrant Programme

- To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills how many students in further education have leave to remain in the UK as a member of a family in the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme; and how much in overseas tuition fees was paid by such students in each of the last five years.

I have been asked to reply.The figures requested are not held centrally as the Home Office does not record whether dependants of migrants under the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme are in further education. However, dependants, aged 16 to 18, of migrants with leave under the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme are allowed to study in the UK without paying fees. The Department for Education and Skills has no information on the specific immigration leave of overseas students in further education in England and cannot identify any fees they may pay.
