Operation Tarian

- To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what assessment he has made of the effectiveness of Operation Tarian mounted by the South Wales, Gwent and Avon and Somerset police forces.

The Home Office has commissioned a preliminary evaluation of the work of the Regional Task Force, which is the supply reduction component of Operation Tarian. It became fully operational in January 2004. The evaluation covers its first full year of operation and assess the feasibility of conducting a fuller evaluation at a later date. Findings will be published in 2006.
