Question

To ask the Deputy Prime Minister whose complaint gave rise to the decision by the National Audit Office on the Objection to the Accounts for year ended 31 March 2004 of Colchester borough council; what estimate he has made of the costs of investigating this complaint; and to whom the costs will fall.

This is an operational matter for the Audit Commission. I will ask the chief executive to write to the hon. Member and to ensure the answer is made available in the Library of the House.
