Written question asked by Countess of Mar (Crossbench), in the House of Lords. It was answered by Lord Bach (Labour) on Wednesday, 30 November 2005.

Pesticides

Question
Whether the Pesticides Safety Directorate has treated as exempt from public disclosure any studies by pesticide companies of human pesticide ingestion testing which have been marked as confidential business information since 1 January 2000; and, if so, how many.
Answer

The directorate has not received any recent requests for disclosure of studies conducted on human subjects. But it would not, as a matter of principle treat such studies as exempt from disclosure. All enquiries for disclosure under freedom of information legislation would be dealt with in the same way, taking into account the presumption in favour of the public interest.
