Departmental Expenditure

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills how much has been spent by her Department on taxi travel in the 2005–06 financial year; and what proportion of such travel was undertaken in each nation and region of the United Kingdom, including London.
Answer

There is no central record of taxi usage and an assessment of the staff time and associated costs could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
