Public Officials (Security Threat)

- To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether public officials have had to move house in Northern Ireland due to the danger of becoming victims of terrorism, since the police raid on Sinn Fein offices in Stormont in 2002; and if he will make a statement.

As a result of the paramilitary intelligence gathering which police acted to prevent, hundreds of stolen documents were recovered. More than a thousand people had to be warned about their safety—some of whom moved house—and approximately £35 million was spent on protective measures.
