Foreign Nationals: Registration

Question: Further to the Written Answer by the Baroness Scotland of Asthal on 6 December (WA 91) concerning the registration of Chinese nationals, which other relevant foreign nationals are required to register with the police upon arrival in the United Kingdom.

Answer: Anyone who is a ““relevant foreign national”” as defined in Part 10 of the Immigration Rules should normally be required to register with the police. The term ““relevant foreign national”” applies to anyone who is aged 16 or over and is the national or citizen of a country or territory listed in Appendix 2 to the rules, or is stateless, or holds a non-national travel document. The Immigration Rules can be found on the Immigration and Nationality Directorate website (www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk) in the ““Law and Policy”” section.
