[holding answer 15 June 2006]: From September 2006, we are introducing a revised key stage 4 programme of study which focuses on scientific literacy. It will maintain the breadth, depth and challenge of the current curriculum while giving teachers greater flexibility to provide for the wide range of students’ interests and aptitudes. We are making similar changes to the key stage 3 science curriculum which will commence in September 2008.
