Iraq: Human Rights
- Question
- To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what reports she has received on the observance of the human rights of gay men in Iraq.
- Answer
-
I have received only limited reporting on the observance of the human rights of gay men in Iraq. The challenge for the Government of Iraq is to implement the constitution in such a way as to uphold the rights of all Iraqis, and to develop the capability of the Iraqi security forces to protect these rights in practise. The United Kingdom is supporting the security and justice sectors in Iraq to enable them to carry out this essential task.
