Immobilisation of Vehicles

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what assessment he has made of the operation of the Private Security Industry Act 2001 in relation to the activities and charges of private clamping companies; and if he will make a statement.
Answer

I have been asked to reply.The Private Security Industry Act 2001 provides for the Security Industry Authority to licence individuals who carry out licensable vehicle immobilising activities as defined by the Act and to ensure that they comply with the licensing requirements. It does not provide for the regulation of fees or other commercial matters.
