Question: asked Her Majesty's Government:How the Medical Training Application Service is auditing the scoring of application forms to ensure consistency of standards.

Answer: There is national guidance and training delivered for selectors and assessors undertaking recruitment to ensure consistency of standards. Postgraduate deans are responsible for ensuring that these standards are maintained. The Medical Training Application Service (MTAS) system provides for an audit of such scores. The review under way will also test the functionality of the MTAS IT requirements. The review panel has also commissioned an audit of the long- and short-listing process managed by the deaneries.
