Specialist Diplomas: Engineering

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families if he will make a statement on the additional and specialist learning options within the level three diploma in engineering.

Answer: [holding answer 10 September 2007]: Additional and specialist learning for all diplomas offers a range of vocational and general qualifications to support choice and progression into higher education or employment. In determining the additional and specialist learning options within the Level 3 Diploma in Engineering, the Diploma Development Partnership, awarding bodies and QCA are working very closely with higher education institutions and employers to ensure clear progression routes for young people.Physics, Modern Foreign Languages, Electronics, Advertising or Multi-media Software Skills are all examples of some of the choices available for young people studying the Engineering Diploma at level 3.
