Fluoridation

Question
asked Her Majesty's Government:Further to the Written Answer by Baroness Royall of Blaisdon on 12 July (WA 242), whether the research project into the measurement of dental fluorosis and its aesthetic impact is the only research into the effects of water fluoridation that they envisage carrying out following the 2006 report by the United States National Research Council, whose recommendations Lord Warner, in his Written Answer on 24 July 2006 (WA 239), said they would be ““taking … into account in the development of our own research programme””.
Answer

We are also considering a wider programme of research in consultation with specialists in dentistry and health services research, including a project on the impact of fluoridation on the levels and distribution of dental caries among children, its cost benefits and the extent to which any benefits continue into adulthood.
