Prisoners: Deportation

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department pursuant to the answer of 22 May 2007, Official Report, column 1248W, to the hon. Member for Ashford (Damian Green), on offenders: deportation, what steps she has taken to ascertain the nationality, residential status and right to remain in the United Kingdom of the 879 prisoners held in England and Wales whose nationality is classified as unknown.

It has not proved possible to respond to the hon. Member in the time available before Prorogation.
