Cyclists: Footpaths

asked Her Majesty's Government:How many people were charged under Section 72 of the Highways Act 1835, as amended by Section 85(1) of the Local Government Act 1888, in London from 1 January to 30 June 2007.
Answer

Section 72 of the Highways Act 1835, as amended by Section 85(1) of the Local Government Act 1888, makes it an offence to cycle on the pavement. The information requested is not collected centrally and is not readily available from the Metropolitan Police.
