- asked Her Majesty's Government:In what cases in the past five years the Secretary of State for Justice, or the Home Secretary before the creation of the Ministry of Justice, has been named as a defendant in a lawsuit alleging discrimination in any of Her Majesty's Prisons on the grounds of (a) race, (b) sex, and (c) disability; and what were the outcomes of those cases.

The Prison Service does not record cases in the form required. Many claimants will claim under one or more of the headings, but not necessarily as the primary cause of action. To provide the information would involve a manual search through thousands of files.
