Northern Cyprus: Islam

- To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assessment he has made of the implications of the dismissal in 2006 of imans in northern Cyprus and their replacement with imans from Turkey; and if he will make a statement.

The Government have not made any assessment. We understand that the Turkish Cypriot decision to appoint imams from Turkey was taken in order to cover shortfalls in northern Cyprus.
