Sexual Offences

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many registered sex offenders there were in each police authority area in each year since 2004; and how many offenders were (a) cautioned and (b) charged for failing to comply with the notification requirements of the Sexual Offenders Act 2003 in that period.
Answer

Table 1 gives the number of registered sex offenders in each police authority area for every year since 2003-04.The Government do not routinely collect data on the number of sex offenders cautioned for failing to comply with their notification requirements. However, the Government do collect data on the number of sex offenders who were:"charged with a serious further offence;""found in breach of their licence conditions; and""found in breach of a Sexual Offence Prevention Order."Tables 2 to 4 give these figures (in relation to sexual offenders managed at MAPPA levels 2 and 3) for each of the aforementioned categories, by area, for every year since 2003-04.
