Migration: Statistics

Question
To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what additional resources are being made available to the Office for National Statistics to undertake the workplan it has recommended to improve migration estimates.
Answer

The information requested falls within the responsibility of the UK Statistics Authority. I have asked the Authority to reply.Letter from Karen Dunnell, dated 9 May 2008:"As National Statistician, I have been asked to reply to your question on what additional resources are being made available to the Office for National Statistics to undertake the Workplan it has recommended to improve migration estimates. (199298)""The statistical work programme for the next four year period is being finalised and will be published shortly. ONS will also be making a related announcement that will provide the details of the migration statistics improvement programme."
