Oral question asked in the House of Commons, by David Evennett (Conservative). It was answered by Lord Coaker (Labour) on Monday, 14 July 2008 on behalf of the Home Office.

Alcohol-induced Crime

Question
What recent assessment she has made of the effectiveness of measures to combat alcohol-induced crime.
Answer

The Government have made a number of such assessments, most recently the assessment of the impact of the impact of the Licensing Act 2003 on levels of crime and disorder, which shows that the overall volume of incidents involving crime and disorder remains unchanged, while there were signs that crimes involving serious violence may have reduced.
