Human Rights: Northern Ireland

Question: asked Her Majesty's Government:Further to the Written Answer by Lord Tunnicliffe on 30 June (WA 21) concerning late answering of Parliamentary Questions, what are the terms of reference of the internal review on communications into the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission; who is carrying out the review; and when it will be completed.

Answer: The internal review on communications encompassed not only the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission but all bodies sponsored by the Northern Ireland Office. The review was to establish best practice for answering parliamentary questions relating to these bodies, and was carried out by Northern Ireland Office officials and endorsed by Ministers and the departmental board. It has now been completed, but procedures are reviewed on an ongoing basis.
