Prisons: Drugs

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice how many hours of training (a) on average and (b) in total prison governors have received relating to illegal drugs in the last 12 months.
Answer

The National Offender Management Service does not hold central records of all the training undertaken by governors or other prison staff. Any such information would be recorded at a local level and collating this information would incur disproportionate costs.HM Prison Service attaches great importance to the learning and development of all staff, including prison officers, ensuring that they are equipped with the right skills at the right time in their Prison Service career. This includes NOMS drugs strategy.
