Telecommunications: Databases

- To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether local authorities will be given access to the database of communications that will be introduced via the forthcoming Communications Data Bill.

I have announced that, prior to any legislation, we will be launching a consultation on options for maintaining the ability of public authorities to have appropriate access to communications data, in the face of the challenge of changing technology.
