Asylum
- Question
- To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what her most recent estimate is of how long it will take to (a) clear the backlog of outstanding asylum cases and (b) deport all those unsuccessful in these cases.
- Answer

[holding answer 16 December 2008]: We are committed to completing the backlog of asylum cases by the summer of 2011. This will of course include cases that are removed from the country. So far 23,500 removals have been effected as at 31 October 2008.
