Surveillance: Local Authorities

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department with reference to the answer of 22 July 2008, Official Report, column 1374W, on surveillance: local authorities, how many of the determinations made in relation to the 554 complaints resulted in the complaint being upheld (a) wholly and (b) in part.
Answer

Information on the number of complaints made and upheld is given in the published annual reports of the Interception of Communications Commissioner and the Intelligences Services Commissioner. These published reports show that since 2005 the Investigatory Powers Tribunal has made a determination in favour of two complainants who lodged a joint complaint.
