Written question asked by Baroness Miller of Chilthorne Domer (Liberal Democrat), in the House of Lords. It was answered by Lord Patel of Bradford (Labour) on Wednesday, 22 April 2009.

Government Departments: Databases

Question
To ask Her Majesty's Government how much money has been spent on procuring and developing government databases since 1997; how many databases have been planned since 1997; and how many of those have been implemented and maintained.
Answer

Each government department is responsible for the management of its own databases. The information requested is not held centrally and to do so would incur disproportionate cost.
