Sudan: Politics and Government
- Question
- To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has made to the Government of Sudan on the abduction of opposition politicians and activists in that country.
- Answer
-
The UK regularly raises human rights issues with the Government of Sudan through the European Union, the Assessment and Evaluation Committee, the National Elections Commission and in bilaterals. In particular, we have raised the importance of protecting freedom of expression and the political space for campaigning by all parties in the run up to the elections in 2010.
